They are conceptually similar to Web services because RDS has a service-oriented architecture (SOA) based on a Representational State Transfer (REST) model using the Decentralized Software Services Protocol (DSSP) for communication between services. RDS services are built using CCR and DSS. You can get further help by posting questions to the various Robotics Discussion Forums at /Forums/en-us/category/robotics. The package includes a useful help file, which is also available at /library/dd936006. To learn more about RDS and download the platform, go to /robotics.

This article outlines a simple RDS service that allows you to send and receive data using a serial port (also known as a COM port). While VPL is intended for novice programmers, experienced coders can also find it useful for for prototyping. Because VPL is built on top of CCR and DSS, dataflows can occur asynchronously (as a result of notifications from services) and can also run in parallel. At run time, messages flow from one block to another in the diagram, and this dataflow is effectively the execution path of the program. VPL is a dataflow language, which means you create programs by drawing diagrams on the screen. VPL, however, is more pertinent to this article. Sara Morgan wrote about the VSE in the June 2008 issue of MSDN Magazine ( /magazine/cc546547). RDS consists of four major components: the Concurrency and Coordination Runtime (CCR), Decentralized Software Services (DSS), Visual Programming Language (VPL) and Visual Simulation Environment (VSE). RDS first shipped in 2006 and the latest version, RDS 2008 R2, was released in June 2009. Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio (RDS) is, as you’d expect, a platform for programming robots.

Several development software titles are available for download through the program. Students remain verified for 12 months afterwards. edu email addresses are the ways DreamSpark verifies students. ISIC cards, access codes ordered by school administrators, and.
Students visit the DreamSpark website to verify their identity. Proof of student status is required for access to products. The DreamSpark program was announced by Bill Gates on Februduring a speech at Stanford University. but has now been expanded to more than 80 countries and is offered to many high school students. To register, students must visit the Dreamspark Website and verify their identity. The program was originally available for university/college students in Belarus, Belgium, China, Finland, France, Germany, India, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, the U.K. DreamSpark is a program set up by Microsoft to provide students with software design and development tools at no charge.
